Nouvelles stratégies d'insertion de particules d'oxyde de fer dans des mésostructures organisées, caractérisation et activité catalytique

Abstract : This work deals with the synthesis of solids containing iron oxide nanoparticles of controlled sized, well dispersed and in strong interaction with mesoporous supports. The originality of this thesis consists in a suitable choice of the iron precursor, namely chelate-type complexes. By a controlled thermal degradation, the iron chelate complexes release the active phase as iron oxide on the highly curved internal wall of the mesoporous silica SBA-15, with an optimal dispersion degree. This confinement effect, referred as "effet de panier", leads after calcination to iron nanoparticules, whose size is controlled by the geometry of the chelate complexe. In the case of Fe/Al2O3 mesoporous composites, iron is also highly dispersed (small mixed oxide (Fe,Al)2O3 domains) and strongly stabilised by appropriate acid-base interaction with the support. These materials proved excellent catalysts for the phenol oxidation by H2O2 in aqueous medium, due to extremely low iron species leaching (<2%).
