Etude in-situ des interactions hydromécanique entre fluides et failles actives - Application au Laboratoire du Rift du Corinthe

Abstract : In order to assert in-situ the coupling between the fluid pressures and fault mechanics, a geodynamical laboratory was installed in the Corinth Rift. The prominent element of this European project is a borehole crossing the Aigio fault (which moved during a magnitude
6.2 earthquake in 1995), and its permanent instrumentation which
enables the continuous recording of fluid pressure around the fault. We first characterized the hydrogeological environment with methods arising both from geothermics and hydrogeology. It then becomes possible to interpret the multiple hydraulic anomalies recorded by our high precision sensors. Their abundance is a testimony to the activity of the fault.
