Thermique des enceintes habitables et énergies solaires

Abstract : This report is a synthesis of the research that I have performed for nearly 30 years in the areas of thermal transfers in habitable enclosures and applications of solar energy. The thermal transfers in habitable enclosures (car cells, buildings...) have the main features of large volumes with complex forms, a strong coupling of the three modes of heat transfer and boundary conditions constantly changing. Here we present a method to build original numerical simulators of the thermal behaviour of such cells subjected to a real meteorological environment. The equations are written in a form algébro differential, based on a nodal method for meshing volumes and surfaces. The solution is obtained by using a commercial solver. Some examples of application, with experimental validation, illustrate the good results achieved by this methodology. This methodology was also applied to fuel cells and other industrial applications where thermal transfers are important. The actions carried out within the framework of research on the thermal solar applications cover all the levels of temperature. At low temperature, we present work concerning the passive solar contributions in the buildings, as well as the problems of the heating of the buildings and domestic water. Concerning high temperature processes, using concentrated solar radiation, we make a summary of the results obtained during the scientific evaluation of the THEMIS solar power plant, and we describe the research tasks in progress for the improvement of the performances of the concentrated solar systems.
