Variabilité de la température de la couche de mélange océanique en Atlantique équatorial aux échelles saisonnières à interannuelles, à l'aide de simulations numériques

Abstract : In this thesis, we investigated the variability of the oceanic mixed layer temperature in the equatorial Atlantic, using numerical simulations.
The results show the predominance of vertical processes and tropical instability waves (<35days, ~500km) to explain the annual cycle of mixed layer temperature.
The study of interannual events allows distinguishing two different processes responsible for interannual variability of surface temperature. The first one is dynamic and remoted, created by wind stress anomalies in the western part of the basin and acts via equatorial Kelvin waves propagation. The second one is thermodynamical and local at Gulf of Guinea scale and is created by interannual anomalies of heat fluxes.
