Abstract : The aim of this study was to characterize at the molecular scale the maturity of a green waste/biowaste compost and its incorporation on a soil.
Five new criteria of maturity were determined using thermo-gravimetry and thermochimiolysis. This technique has shown an increase in microbial activity (branched/linear monoacids ratio and mono-/diacids ratio). Moreover the oxidation of terpenoic compounds was observed. The study of humic substances (HS) organic matter (OM) did not show a direct link with free lipids.
A silty soil amended with compost has its structural stability improved and a risk of erosion limited. The interaction of compost OM with SOM is shown when monitoring lipidic markers froml compost. The study of lipids shows an increase in microbial activity (oxidation of neutral and acid compounds and branched/linear fatty acids ratio). The increase of the branched/linear fatty acids ratio and the presence of omega-methoxyesters demonstrated the incorporation of the OM of compost in HS.
