Autofiancement d'une structure de soins
(étude exploratoire de mise en œuvre d'une initiative de ré-assurance sociale au Togo)

Abstract : The accessibility of primary health care in Togo has become difficult due to the increase in the cost of consultancy fees. Various solutions have been attempted with unsatisfactory results for the patients. The basic question is which "adapted structure" should be used and how this could be made self-financing.
Method: Our assessment, rapid analysis and prospectives were based on questionnaires, data information retrieval, simultaneously collected in various districts in Lomé during 2004.
A total of 80 %, (960 out of 1202), of those questioned opted for a monthly contribution of 1000F; 13% rejected a contribution below 500 F; 7% proposed 2000 F.
Discussion Analysis of the collected data confirmed the advantages of our initiative.
This innovative approach as a shared structure of spread risks meets the real basic needs of patients. The individuals interviewed were willing to pool their resources for health care which has become inaccessible for the majority of the population.
Conclusion Micro-finance, as a source of generating revenue activities, may be applied to the health sector (although access to health care constitutes a fundamental problem).
