Structure et propriétés mécaniques d'interfaces entre polymères fondus

Abstract : In this thesis, adhesion between uncrosslinked elastomers has been investigated.
First, we investigated the mechanisms of establishment and rupture of interfaces between two identical polymers with controlled molecular mass and microstructure. To do that, we developed a method of measurement of the adherence adapted to polymeric fluids.
Using this method, we compared the adhesion between immiscible polymers at thermodynamic equilibrium and the interfacial thickness measured by neutron reflectivity. Our results show that the adhesion between immiscible polymeric fluids is directly connected to the Flory interaction parameter.
Using this strong link between interdiffusion and adhesion, we investigated the mutual diffusion of these polymers, from the time dependence of adhesion. This study is the first experimental evidence of the slowing down of diffusion kinetics with immiscibility.
