Elaboration et analyses structurales et chimiques de nanotubes hétéroatomiques de type C-N et C-B-N.

Abstract : Two nanotubular structures exists and are nowadays a subject of great interest : carbon nanotubes (C-NTs) that are metallic or semi-conducting depending on their helicity and boron nitride nanotubes (BN-NTs), which are wide band gap (5-6 eV) semiconductors. In this context, doping carbon nanotubes with other chemical elements like B and/or N that can introduce donor or acceptor states near the Fermi level is supposed to be a promising approach for tailoring the electronic properties of nanotubes as a function of the composition. The objectives of this thesis were twofold. On the one hand, it was question of developing flexible processes of synthesis to be able to produce various types of heteroatomic tubes. Technics like CVD assisted by an aerosol and vaporization laser has been used for this purpose. In addition, a fine analysis on a macroscopic and sub nanometric scale of the samples was carried out mainly by transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) and spatially-resolved electron energy loss spectroscopy (SR-EELS). CNx and CBxNy single- and multi-walled nanotubes have been synthesised in this work with success. In addition, a strong segregation between C and BN domains has been observed with a preferential localisation and a specific size of the domains as a function of the synthesis method.
