Etude de la capacité de dissipation sous impact d'une structure sandwich de protection contre les chutes de blocs rocheux

Abstract : This thesis approaches the field of passive protection against the rockfalls. The aim is to study a dissipative composite protective structure: the sandwich structure. It is composed of a reinforced concrete slab which spreads the impact load on a second layer made up of gravel inserted in extensible geotextile socks contents in a pile of tires. An experimental investigation of impact tests is carried out to measure the transmitted impact force for kinetic energies going up to 90 kJ. The sandwich structure is well adapted for energies from 50 to 100 kJ. For higher energies, the double sandwich (superposition of 2 simple sandwiches) appears better adapted to decrease the intensity of the transmitted impact force by improving the dissipation effect by a better spreading of the impact force. In parallel, numerical simulations thanks to the method of the discrete elements, and more particularly SDEC code, are carried out. A calibration set up of the local parameters is proposed to simulate the sandwich structure behavior under impact. The elastic and plastic parameters are fixed thanks to triaxial or simple compression quasi-static tests. Moreover, a law with moment transfer is added to increase friction between grains or to simulate reinforced concrete slab flexion. It allows representing the structure deformation for an energy range going up to 45 kJ.
