SYNTHESE DE FISCHER-TROPSCH EN REACTEURS STRUCTURES A CATALYSE SUPPORTEE EN PAROI

Abstract : Fischer-Tropsch synthesis kinetic and exothermicity tend to make it quite uneasy to handle. Inner properties of miniaturized catalytic reactors such as better thermal management and diffusion controlled mass transfer may appear as an issue to ease its operation. The scope of this work is to propose tools to set the concerned synthesis in reactors presenting an internal volume of 200 μL.
Stacked reactors were engineered from functionalised stainless steel foils. A method to graft a Co/SiO2 catalysts on pre-treated steel was proposed. Pre-treatment allows the bonding of the catalyst on the substrate. The aerosol assisted grafting method from an sol-gel preparation gave thickness controlled active coatings.
These coatings were tested under a wide scope of Fischer-Tropsch synthesis conditions in two different structured reactors. Experimental results allowed to propose an expression for CO consumption rate. It was used in order to model the behaviour of the catalyst for the two different fluidic environments on a 10 to 30 % conversion range. Comparison with similar catalytic species showed the higher potential of miniaturised structured reactors especially for productivity enhancement.
