Conception et optimisation de capteurs à courants de Foucault pour la détection de défauts profonds dans des matériaux amagnétiques

Abstract : The requirements on the level of quality and as regards safety become increasingly constraining in the industrial activity and explain the increasing importance of the non destructive testing. Among the methods used, the eddy currents have to occupy an increasingly large place. But the increase in the requirements puts at fault the traditional methods of development. While being based on the control of the riveted joints of the wings of planes, the purpose of this work is to set up new methods making it possible to increase the performances of the devices with eddy currents. It is therefore necessary to achieve a knowledge as complete as possible of the physical phenomena by using 2D and 3D simulations by Finit Elements. The potential use and the limitations of the software implemented in this study are first of all evaluated. The development of a method of detection by pulsed eddy currents is then presented. After a characterization of those on energy criteria, the various elements of the device are optimized (dimension of winding, position of the elements of measurement, spectrum of the signal of excitation). The performances of the sensor are evaluated in experiments with each stage to validate the results provided by modeling. The preceding method is heavy to implement. The introduction of an automatic method of optimization using a genetic algorithm makes it possible to reduce considerably the time of design. The whole of these tools made it possible to design more powerful sensors than those existing.
