Modélisation par la méthode des équations intégrales de frontière de phénomènes de conduction surfacique sur les isolateurs pollués

Abstract : The dielectric withstand capabilities of insulating materials is related to their surface electric field and potential distributions. These distributions, in the presence of polluting layers, are quite different from these encountered in classical electrostatics. This work is concerned with the application of boundary integral equations method to the calculation of electric fields and potential for cases of polluted insulators subjected to power frequency voltages. In chapter 1, we shall discuss polluted insulator surface conduction phenomena followed by a presentation of the governing equations for electric fields and potential distributions. Numerical methods have been developed to resolve such distribution problems. Chapter 2 addresses such methods and reviews the method of Boundary Integral Equations. Chapter 3 concentrates on the application of the Boundary Integral Equations Method to contaminated insulators. The enabling equations, their numerical resolutions and calculation of the various local and global parameters are treated in this chapter. The result is a numerical surface conduction model called "Module pollution". In chapter 4, the mode1 is validated and some results of this validation are presented. We shall finalize by presenting application examples and possible extensions/developments to the numerical model in chapter 5.
