Influence des flux d'eau souterraine entre une zone humide superficielle et un aquifère profond sur le fonctionnement hydrochimique des tourbières : Exemple des marais du Cotentin, Basse-Normandie

Abstract : Holocene peatlands from Cotentin peatbogs lie on sandy aquifer sedimentary basins (K = 10-3 – 10-4 m.s-1) which exploitation leads to variable hydrogeological conditions on a given site. Two-years of hydrogeological and hydrochemical monitoring associated with hydrogeological numerical modelling of the wetland functioning allowed to show that:
- The hydrological functioning of the wetland is controlled by the underlying sandy aquifer and the peatland existence is directly linked to its presence;
- The hydrogeological conditions have a direct influence on the spatiotemporal variability of the site redox conditions and on biogeochemical reactions that take place in the peatland;
- The wetland modelling results demonstrate that these ecosystems are sensitive and vulnerable to anthropic pressure (pumping) and/or to global climate change.
