Relations entre microstructure et propriétés mécaniques de matériaux enchevêtrés

Abstract : Some insulating materials combine thermal and mechanical performances. The latter are two opposite properties and a compromise is obtained by changing, on-line, the structure of the material by a crimping process. The aim of the present study is the understanding of the relationship between the crimping parameters and the mechanical properties of the final product. Several approaches have been developed:
- An analysis of the crimping process from videos: it allows one to determine locally the strain rate fields within the crimping machine and to quantify the kinematics of the process.
- An analysis of the finished product: from pictures of the textured product, a determination of the local anisotropy tool has been developed. The anisotropy is linked to the mechanical performances of the product. This interaction has been experimentally identified and a modelling of the elastic anisotropic behaviour of the studied material has been proposed.
