Etude linguistique de dialogues psychosomatiques

Abstract : This is a study of three conversations between the same psychoanalyst and three patients affected by psychosomatic diseases in a service of general medicine, after an observation of one year in the hospital Bichat.
These interactions chosen as representative of the psychosomatic dialogue by the therapist (one of the theorists on the subject) characterize a kind of gathering of information through dialogue about the disease, it's aim is to make a prognosis and a diagnosis, within the framework of a short hospitalization.

These patients who usually constitute a referencial population during inquiries on the speech of the schizophrenic, obsessional or hysteric patients, present - according to psychosomaticians - a type of overdrawn, completely updated, realistic language, little supported on the fantasmatical and functional level.

First of all, the study concerned the linguistic characteristics of the situation (turn-taking, lexicon , types of syntactical structures, modes of continuity and break).
It shows a rather strong syntactic and narrative variation for the patients and great stability for the analyst during three conversations.
The statistical study of the lexicon, as well as the discourse analysis on the basis of the Harrissian theory
clarifies how, with a relatively common lexicon, the discursive forms of continuity and the logico-narrative recurrences strongly particularize these patients.
The analysis shows no strictly linguistic deficiency of these patients ; the psychosomatic dialogue appears as a institutional variant of the interview, strongly typified, constituting a particular subgeneric discourse .
