Formation, propagation et coalescence dans un réseau de fissures en fatigue thermique

Abstract : Thermal fatigue cracking is observed in the mixing zones of the cooling system of nuclear power plants. The evaluation of crack nucleation and their subsequent propagation in a pipe subjected to thermomechanical loadings is very important to determine maintenance programmes. A closed form solution is developed to calculate the stress intensity factors to study the effect of loading characteristics. An automatic numerical procedure was developed to model crack propagation in a network. It consists on an automatic remeshing procedure and a propagation strategy based on the crack length increment. The network aspects are discussed trough this numerical procedure. A probabilistic model that takes into account the effects of material heterogeneity on the formation, propagation and coalescence of crack networks in high cycle fatigue is introduced. This model can be integrated in a finite elements programme as a post processor or a non linier modulus.
