Projet collectif de création d'une ressource numérique comme levier d'apprentissage de l'anglais

Abstract : This action-research focuses on a project in which trainee teachers in Paris and PGCE students in London are working together to create a multimedia resource. Our hypothesis is that such a task is likely to help the French trainee teachers learn English. More precisely, our research questions centre around how this project contributes to their L2 acquisition, particularly with regard to developing their oral production in English, a key skill for them as they are expected to teach English in their classes.

In order to better understand the impact of this project on the language acquisition process and more specifically on the development of the learners' output, we first examine the various tasks it includes from the perspective of language acquisition theories and a sociocultural approach. We then study the interactional context set up by the participants themselves. We also consider the fact that the exchanges between the French trainee teachers and their British partners are all e-mail based. The authentic input the learners are exposed to is therefore exclusively written. This creates a risk of "nativization" whose effect on oral production will be analysed.

Based on our conclusions, suggestions to improve future ICT projects to develop L2 oral production will finally be made, which is in keeping with the action-research cycle.
