Contribution à l'étude du contrôle optimal des transferts orbitaux mono-entrée

Abstract : We deal with a problem from celestial mechanics, namely the minimum-time orbit transfer towards a geostationary orbit. More precisely, we are concerned with the particular case of single-input transfer. Using esults and methods from previous studies, the optimal single-input transfer is computed and we observe excellent results given the additional constraints on the thrust direction in this case. Since the optimal control is discontinuous, we introduce two smooth approximations. First, we consider a Riemannian approximation relying on the averaged minimum-energy transfer without constraint on the control : the analysis of the underlying metric shows that, in suitable coordinates, optimal trajectories towards circular orbits are straight lines. Then we connect the single-input transfer to constrained and yet smooth double-input transfers and we apply smooth second-order optimality conditions to these approximations : this process validates the efficiency of the single-shooting method on the single-input transfer.
