Etude expérimentale de la fissuration dynamique de plaques : application à la fragmentation de réservoirs

Abstract : Dynamic rupture of metallic pressurized vessels results from a competition between the enclosure walls cracking and the fluid outcome. This phenomenon has been experimentally investigated by:
· First, lab-scale experiments where metallic plates have been subjected to explosive loads. Cracking propagation velocity has been surveyed and does not seem to be dependent of the dynamic loading. Otherwise, fragments sizes have been linked with the explosion violence.
· Then, large-scale experiments that have consisted in subjecting twenty litres enclosures to explosion. Some of the results confirms the findings of lab-scale experiments.
