Etude et optimisation de la Transition Déflagration Détonation (TDD) en tube des mélanges stoechiométriques H2/O2/N2 et (CH4, C2H2, C2H4 et C3H8)/O2/N2 et de sa Transmission à un espace de plus grande dimension

Abstract : The development of an air-breathing Pulsed Detonation Engine requires the improvement of Deflagration to Detonation Transition (DDT) and of detonation diffraction of the reactive mixture used. The study consisted in reducing the DDT times and lengths (tDDT, LDDT) in a tube with the introduction of repetitive obstacles. The mixtures used have the same detonation cell size (λ) around the diameter of the tube. We show that the controlling parameters are λ for LTDD and laminar flame speed for tDDT. We aim to reduce the classical criterion dc=13λ of detonation transmission from a tube (d) to free space with the following geometry : (i) a controlled jump of section, (ii) a cone with a central obstacle and (iii) two successive normal reflections. We show that with this last method the criterion becomes dc=2.2λ which correspond to an improvement of 80% compared to the transmission to free space.
