Autour de la Caractérisation de Raisonnements de Sens Commun en Présence d'Informations Incertaines

Abstract : The essence of the present thesis is to provide representation theorems and impossibility theorems for families of consequence relations and revision operators. First, we will investigate preferential consequence relations (in the sense of Kraus, Lehmann, and Magidor) and pivotal consequence relations (in the sense of Makinson). These are plausible relations (the former are non-monotonic, the latter are monotonic) conceived to deal with incomplete information. We will study them in paraconsistent frameworks such as the one of the logic of Belnap. This will render them useful to treat also inconsistent information. Second, we will investigate an approach to belief revision introduced by Lehmann, Magidor, and Schlechta. It is based on distances between valuations and has the advantage to define well-behaved iterated revision operators.
