Copolymères greffés et matériaux nanostructurés à base de polyméthacrylate de méthyle et de polyamide-6

Abstract : This work focuses on the synthesis of nanostructured polymeric materials based on polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) and polyamide-6 (PA-6). Blends are prepared by reactive blending, namely melt-mixing of polymers bearing mutually reactive groups. The grafting reaction occurs between the amino end-group of PA-6 and glutaric anhydride units distributed along PMMA backbones. The compositions of the extruded blend and of the graft copolymer can be estimated in most cases using a method based on size exclusion chromatography. These results combined to transmission electron microscopy were used to design the polymer system (composition of functionalized PMMA and length of PA chains) to achieve stable nanostructured blends. In PMMA/PA-6 blends, PA-6 grafts must be short to get fine morphologies. When a triblock copolymer, composed of a central part incompatible with functionalized PMMA end-blocks, is used in the blends, stable nanostructured blends are achieved whatever the length of PA chains is. Crystallinity of PA-6 in the blends was studied. The materials exhibit interesting properties like solvent and thermomechanical properties, which can be related to the self-assembly and the possibility to connect PA-6 domains throughout the materials.
