Etude des modes d'action d'agents de mouture sur le broyage du clinker

Abstract : In cement industry, clinker grinding in steal tumbling mills is energy-consuming, and it has a very low energy efficiency. The use of a small quantity of products called grinding aids can improve the energy efficiency of this operation. However, the grinding mechanism with such products has not been explained precisely yet. In order to understand it, we study the effect of two grinding aids on clinker grinding. The first one is a common used agent, referred as « Mi », containing water and triethanolamine acetate. The second one, a new one referred as « compound F », is composed of three organic molecules. Compound F has shown a different effect from Mi on clinker laboratory grindings using a planetary ball mill.
We have found that they improve not only the clinker comminution, but also the one of other materials like limestone and slag. Their mode of action is not dependant on the grinding medium as they are efficient when it is composed of steel and alumina.
Finally, their mode of action is linked with the improvement of the powder dry dispersion in the mill due to a dispersing effect of the clinker.
