Les ancrages des habitants des villes nouvelles franciliennes : des bassins de vie en construction
Résumé
New towns inside Paris metropolitan area have been a huge planning operation. So many people have settled since 1970 that they overwhelmed the established populations. This experience has been often mythically described by a "roots metaphoric language". But far from being uprooted when settling and nowadays deep-rooted, these populations who actively participated to give the news towns adapted social structures are attached to these towns in a specific way, called "anchorage". The anchorage is characterised by residential mobility and children's settling around a territory extending beyond the new towns boundaries. It is also characterised by the emergence of a new autochtony from the middle-class of which a new notability was born. Finally, many people are attached to the new towns in a way that they often are willing to retire there. Perhaps, new towns are now growing old. All these results rest on a comparative study inside the Parisian outer suburbs together with in-depth interviews conducted with inhabitants.
