Compréhension et amélioration des conditions de couplage par enduction à grande vitesse entre filaments SiCcvd et alliage base titane

Abstract : Liquid route process of titanium matrix composites reinforced by silicon carbide filaments gives riste to important interactions at the resulting interfaces, despite the high speed of the coating process.
The interactions between the carbon outer layer of the filament and the liquid titanium alloy control the wettability kinetics of the filament as well as the carbon transfer form the filament toward the matrix.
Models, confirmed by observation and microscopic analyses, were able to describe the mechanisms related to manufacturing process and particularity to the solidification.
A reactive chemical vapour deposition of titanium carbide on the carbon outer layer of silicon carbide filament appeared to be efficient for improving the wettability of the filament by liquid titanium alloy and for controlling not only carbon transfer but also the elaboration conditions needed to obtain filamentary composites in agreement with expected specifications.
