Mécanismes cinétiques pour l'amélioration de la sécurité des procédés d'oxydation des hydrocarbures

Abstract : Hydrocarbons explosion parameters are mostly known at atmospheric pressure and temperature, far from the operating conditions of numerous industrial processes at which phenomenon like cool flames might have a big influence on explosivity. That is why the goal of this study is to use kinetic mechanisms to predict safety parameters at relevant conditions. The chapter I of this report gives generalities about hydrocarbons oxidation processes safety, gas explosions and the influence of cool flames on explosion limits. Chapter II presents hydrocarbons oxidation mechanisms and sums up the modeling work available in the literature, including a presentation of the home-made software EXGAS that allowed us to automatically generate our kinetic mechanisms. Improvements of the models concerning alkanes and corresponding validations are gathered in chapter IV, also including validations for one alkene. Specificities of the kinetic mechanisms of oxidation of cyclanes and corresponding validations form the basis of chapter V. Finally, chapters VI allows us to demonstrate the feasability of the prediction of safety parameters using our kinetic models and the necessity to include an in-depth description of physical phenomenon to fully match experimental explosion data.
