ETUDE CINEMATIQUE ET FONCTIONNELLE DU CENTROSOME DES
CELLULES DE VERTEBRE

Abstract : This thesis deals with the function of the centrosome in Vertebrate cells.
It contains a large introdution in three parts : history of the centrosome field and major discoveries from late XIXth Century to nowadays, a comprehensive review of the current knowledge and a phylogenetic study of the centrosome organelle.
The experimental data rely largely on combining various types of microsopy, in particular time-lapse recordings of the centriole mouvements at various stages of the cell division cycle.
Unfortunately, all the Introduction and discussions are in French and you will benefit very little from it if you are not fluent in this language ; But most of the experimental data have been published. They are in english in the thesis and you can also find them on the web (Piel M , Bornens M and others) in the journals : Methods in Cell Biology (2002), Journal of Cell BIology (2000, 2002a and 2002b) and Science (2001) for my PhD papers as a first author (major contribution).
