Astrométrie des occultations d'étoiles par les astéroïdes

Abstract : The study presented here relates to the prediction and the observation of stellar occultations by the
asteroids. The subject includes the modelling and the development of algorithms of predictions of
stellar occultation and the improvement of their precision through theoretical and observational
considerations. For that I initially develop all the definitions relating to the ephemeris by attaching me
more particularly to the concepts of celestial and terrestrial reference frames. Then I present the
various time scales being attached to it for finally proposing computation algorithms of planets,
asteroids and stars ephemeris with an internal precision of about 0".001. Thus I develop a model of
prediction of stellar occultation by presenting a method of systematic search for these phenomena
and a computation algorithm of the places on Earth from where they are observable. I describe
what are the approximations and show that in the current state of knowledge of the orbits
of the asteroids the observational rate of success of the predictions of stellar occultation hardly exceeds
50%. I propose solutions to improve the prediction of these phenomena by improving the model
of calculation presented here and by seeking solutions through the astronomical observation to
improve the astrometric and photometric knowledge of the asteroids. Finally I show that it is
possible to reach a rate of success ranging between 70% and 80%, and present what are the
conditions to obtain a rate of success higher than 90%.
