Cristallochimie des composés de terres rares à anions mixtes. Propriétés d'absorption uv-visible

Abstract : This work deals with the synthesis of new rare earth-based mixed anions (O, S, F) compounds and their UV-visible absorption properties. New rare earth oxyfluorosulfides have been prepared. Structural determinations have been undertaken by means of several diffraction techniques (X-ray, neutrons, electrons). Most of these networks are related to the matlockite PbFCl or the a-La2O3 structural type. One of these compositions exhibits an incommensurate modulated structure, deriving from that of La2O2S by a shearing mechanism. The origin of absorption properties of these materials has been analysed from a study combining band structure calculations and valence band XPS experiments. Optical absorption properties of different compounds have been correlated to their structural features.
