Contribution à l'étude de la fonctionnalisation et de
l'intercalation des nanotubes de carbone –
Application à l'élaboration de structures nanofilamentaires

Abstract : This work is devoted to the study of the functionalization of the carbon nanotubes (CNT)
and to the application of the derivatives thus obtained to the development of nanomaterials, an
essential topic in advanced materials science.
A study of the functionalization by oxygen and fluorine of various types of CNT, obtained
by different methods of synthesis, was carried out, which enabled us to obtain tubes
bifunctionalized by heteroelements.
The storage of fluorine into single-wall CNT bundles could be realized under a F2 gas
atmosphere, at low temperature. The fluorination thus obtained happens to be reversible.
WF6 was intercalated in the interlayer space of catalytically-grown multi-wall CNTs. The
product obtained was used as template to obtain nanoparticles of tungsten oxyfluoride,
following a fluorine-oxygen exchange via the hexamethyldisiloxane molecule.
Finally, the development of nanowire-shaped halides using a fluorinated CNT as
precursor was attempted.
