Etude paramétrique avancée de canaux SISO et MIMO en environnements complexes : Application au système HiperLAN/2

Abstract : Wireless mobile telecommunications have known a growing interest for
more than one decade. They break up into two types of use:
telephony and wireless networks. The complementarity of these
two technologies offers an enormous potential to provide the users
a mobility without interruption of service when the user passes from
the public property to private property and reciprocally.

However, whatever the wireless communication system considered, it
is subjected to a strong constraint due to the
multi-paths character of the channel. These result by fast and major fading
of the level of reception and by
frequence selectivity of the channel. Thus, the phenomenon of
multiple paths associated to the radioelectric channel generates
disturbances at the time of the signal transmission at a given moment,
position and frequency.

The objective of this thesis comes into this context because it relates
to the space-time characterization of the propagation channel
which takes into account one or more antennas for the emission and also the

Thus in this document are defined the theoretical tools allowing the
calculation of the characteristic functions. This formalism is then
integrated into a software of space-time characterization, which is able to
take into account entry datas resulting from a series of measurements or
coming from models of propagation. Lastly, it proposes an opening
for the use of the characterization's information of the channel in a
HiperLAN/2 system.
