Abstract : Various aspects of the cryogenic electrical substitution radiometer are investigated : resistive bolometer (thermal budget and electrothermal model), low frequency excess noise of YBCO thin films operated in the superconducting transition and high resolution temperature control. A dedicated read-out electronics has been developed for low impedance resistive thermometers. Measurements in open loop around 273K (industrial platinum resistance thermometers) and measurements in closed loop at 90K (YBCO thermometers) are analysed. The latter give a drift around 0.1E-6K/s and small controlled temperature variations of 30E-6Kp. Using the correlation method, the temperature resolution is around 2.8E-6K at 0.83mA, for a bandwidth of 1Hz and 400s measurement period. The noise analysis shows that increasing by 5 the current would improve the temperature resolution of a factor 700. A detection threshold of 6pW is estimated for the radiometer (maximum incident power of 1mW, 5mA and 250s).
