Modélisation de l'atténuation naturelle des éthènes chlorés dans les aquifères en aval de sites industriels pollués. Application au cas de Sermaise (Essonne).

Abstract : The main difficulty of taking the biodegrading of chlorinated solvents into account in the management of polluted aquifers is the present lack of suitable quantification tools. A simplified model of reactive transport was constructed to evaluate the biodegrading of chlorinated solvents and the durability of the process by taking into account the important role of the dynamics in the redox environment. To this end, it simulates the organic contamination in its entirety (not only the chlorinated solvents but also the organic compounds likely to significantly influence the redox environment) while remaining compatible with the amount of knowledge acquired on a real site due to the introduction of certain lumped variables. The application to the site of Sermaise (Essonne, France) shows how the model can be used in practice and what can be achieved concretely to understand the processes at work on the site and help in the decision-making process.
