Génération de second harmonique dans des verres borophosphate de sodium et niobium par polarisation thermique

Abstract : Second Harmonic Generation in polarized vitreous materials should permit the development of new electro-optic devices compatible with silica glass fiber. This thesis presents the results obtained on thermally poled glasses with compositions ((1-x)0.95 NaPO3 + 0.05Na2B4O7)+ x Nb2O5 (x ≤ 0.5). A second order optical nonlinearity better than 4 pm/V has been induced in both bulk and thin films glasses. Characterization of materials before and after polarization and especially the description of the local structure of the glass network allowed to propose some mechanisms to describe the thermal poling treatment in such conductive glasses.
