L'identité du groupe des journalistes du Québec au défi d'Internet

Abstract : The introduction of Internet in the journalism area, in Quebec as elsewhere, challenges the terms of journalist and journalism and destabilizes the group identity, the historical production of its specificity. Drawing up this group identity facing a specific change implies an inductive, qualitative and iterative research that has to be realized through different ways: a scrutinizing work upon the history of Quebec's journalism; the study of the new technologies impact on journalism (online journalism and online publication practices). The portrait of the identity form of the Quebec group of journalists happens to be, above all, a specific discursive production, based upon different discursive strategies (the group participation to the nation, the corporatist ideals, the institutional duality and the self-organization). The issue of this thesis is to reveal the mechanisms of permanence, the processes which have made and make the group of journalists being formed and survive, which make it still dealing with changes, even with crisis, whereas its form, its territory and its strategies change.
