Modification et photopolymérisation d'huiles végétales en vue de leur application dans les encres et vernis UV

Abstract : This study aimed at modifying vegetable oils in order to render them photoactive and to make photocrosslinkable materials. After characterisation of the raw vegetable oils, chemical modification have been made depending on the polymerization mechanism : radical or cationic. For the cationic polymerization, styrenic or vinyl ether groups have been grafted on castor oil. Despite a good grafting, the polymerization did not occur because the reactive moieties were diluted in the oil structure. For the radical polymerisation, acrylates groups were grafted following two ways: the esterification of castor oil or the acrylation of epoxidized soybean oil. The modified oils contained several acryles groups and the subsequent polymerization was very fast. The modified oils and the films obtained after photocrosslinking were then characterized.
