Réactivité des nitriles sur la surface Si(001)-2x1, étudiée par spectroscopies de photoémission, d'absorption X et microscopie tunnel

Abstract : The combined use of photoemission and X-ray absorption spectroscopies – assisted by DFT calculations of core excited states –, and scanning tunnelling microscopy, has enabled the precise determination of adsorption geometries on the Si(001)-2×1 surface for four organic molecules with a cyano group, monofunctional – the acetonitrile– or polyfunctional – the benzonitrile, the acrylonitrile and the allylcyanide. It is shown that organic chemistry rules the reaction possibilities on the surface. Adsorption modes are then determined by kinetics. A specific tuning of the experimental conditions would enable to obtain the desired adsorption modes with applications in molecular electronics.
