Fragmentation d'agrégats de carbone (multi) chargés formés par ionisation et excitation en collision de haute vitesse

Abstract : The present work is devoted to the study of the excitation, ionisation and fragmentation of monocharged carbon clusters C^+_n (n \leq 10) induced by high velocity (2.6au) collision on helium gas. For this velocity regime the electronic mechanisms of excitation and ionisation are dominant. The collision processes (electronic excitation, simple and (multi) ionisation, fragmentation) are investigated thanks to a new tool based on the shape analysis of current pulses delivered by semiconductor detectors upon the impact of fragments issued from the collision. All fragments are detected in coincidence with 100% efficiency. The electronic process and fragmentation patterns are identified. Absolute cross sections of electronic excitation and simple, double, triple and quadruple ionisation are measured and compared to the predictions of an independent atoms and electrons model (IAE). Branching ratios for all fragmentation channels of C_n^q+ clusters (n=5-10, q=0-4) are measured and analysed in the frame of the MMMC statistical theory (Microcanonical Metropolis Monte Carlo).
