Contribution à l'étude et à la réalisation de commutateurs et de générateurs haute tension transitoires

Abstract : The work presented in this thesis constitutes a contribution to the development of devices entering within the framework of the generation of strong pulsed electric powers. Chapter 1 is devoted to the study of high voltage thyristors functioning in fast transients. The performances of various types of thyristors are analyzed. A certain number of switches which we produced are presented as well as an application relative to an electrostatic precipitator functioning under pulsed power supply. Chapter 2 analyzes the operation of two amplifying voltage devices : the Marx generator and the pulse transformer. Concerning the Marx generators, one analyzes the role of the parasitic elements which contribute to their using correct operation in a traditional structure of the switches with gas and one proposes a modification of this initial structure in order to improve their release of it. This study leads to the achievements of Marx generators with air spark-gaps and Marx generators with thyristors. A high voltage pulse transformer is developed in order to solve a problem of reproducibility of signals ULB. Finally, chapter 3 presents our contribution to the study of the lightning generator SUPER DICOM, carried out by THALES for the Aeronautical Center of Tests of Toulouse (C.E.A.T.). Various means of release of the spark-gaps of this generator are tested and compared. To finish, a comparative study relating to the performances of the air spark-gaps representative of those used for this generator was undertaken, under voltages continuous and pulsed and for two materials : brass and graphite.
