Abstract : Light is a very powerful tool to study matter, and many types of light Facilities covering a wide spectral range exist to meet an increasing demand from users from many fields of research and industry. However, there are also increasing demands from users requesting the combination of ultrafast (femtosecond) and intense x-ray pulses. The work described in this Habilitation focus on the development of innovative x-ray sources from laser-matter interaction as well as pionneering application experiments in ultrafast x-ray science.
