Analyse morphologique des espaces ouverts urbains le long de parcours : mesure des variations des formes de ciel par la squelettisation

Abstract : The motion of an observer in a given space produces a kind of particular perception called “motion perception”. This has been dened by Gibson as the gradual changes in the rate of displacements of contour lines in the visual eld of the observer. This thesis describes a new approach intended for analysing the motion perspective along routes in urban open spaces. It is based on spherical projections which provide the shape of the sky boundary around the observer and that are studied through their skeletons, that is to say a continuous set of curves obtained by a progressive thinning down of the shape around its main saliencies. The proposed method here uses these skeletons in a view to follow the variations in the shape of the sky boundary between the successive views. Measures of these variations have been developed and tested on different examples of urban morphologies.
