Modélisation numérique de l'érosion et de la sédimentation le long de la rivière Pilcomayo (Bolivie) : Un exemple de l'évolution d'une rivière dans un contexte tectoniquement actif sous l'effet des fluctuations climatiques quaternaires

Abstract : This thesis studies the role of tectonics and climate on a river evolution (Pilcomayo) located in Bolivia. To cope with the problem, we developed a numerical model called COBASE which allows to simulate at different spatial and temporal scales the dynamic of the river by integrating the transport of sediments in the river and on basin slopes. We show that: Tectonics does not control river evolution at a regional scale but can locally influence the qualitative and quantitative sedimentary fillings. The climate influences the evolution of the catchment area. Indeed, it controls the river incision and the composition of the elements which settle in the river. Lessons drawn from this modeling enabled us to propose a correlation between the sedimentary fillings observed on the ground on the Pilcomayo river and regional climatic variations at the scale of the Holocene.
