Cordes et champs antisymétriques dans des espaces-temps courbes

Abstract : In this thesis, we study conformal field theories (CFTs) in two dimensions, their geometrical interpretation and their application to bosonic string theory. After a brief introduction, we build CFTs whose classical limits describe strings propagating in general quotients of compact groups by finite abelian subgroups. In each of these quotients, various configurations of antisymmetric background fields are allowed, corresponding to discrete torsion in the CFT. In the third chapter we add open strings to the construction, studying the annuli amplitudes, the geometric interpretation of the D-branes and how these are stabilized by the flux of the gauge field. In the fourth chapter we build on this low energy analysis, by computing the two loop beta function for the gauge field in parallelizable backgrounds, which could lead to R corrections to the Born Infeld action. We also present some results on the non-abelian BI action at this order. The fifth chapter contains conclusions and perspectives.
