Génération et inversion de données de propagation d'ondes radio à travers un noyau comètaire (Experience CONSERT - Mission Spatiale ROSETTA)

Abstract : This thesis presents the direct and inverse simulations made in the framework of the Consert experiment (Comet Nucleus Sounding Experiment using Radio wave Transmission). This experiment is part of the scientic package of the Rosetta space mission. We modeled the propagation of electromagnetic waves through a comet nucleus model in a two dimensional setting using a Ray Tracing technique (RTM). This algorithm was validated with respect to the Pseudo-Spectral Time Domain (PSTD) method and was extended to the three dimensional case. We emulated as closely as possible the true Consert data to achieve a complete instrument simulator. For the inverse problem, we used a Tikhonov-like inverse RTM method based on weak permittivity assumptions. We demonstrated that the tomographical problem is an ill-posed non-linear problem. Reconstruction results showed the importance of the a priori information to enhance the quality of the imaging.
