Groupes quantiques localement compacts, actions et extensions

Abstract : We study quantum groups in an operator algebraic framework: the underlying quantum spaces are C*-algebras or von Neumann algebras. We give examples as extensions of groups by group duals. This provides the first examples of non-semi-regular quantum groups. We study outer coactions on factors and in particular on free Araki-Woods factors. We introduce a T invariant for quantum groups and use it to show that certain quantum groups can only coact outerly on factors of type III.
