Contribution à une méthodologie de conception de produits à forte diversité

Abstract : In a product design context, industrials are lead to design and manufacture a wide diversity of products in order to satisfy diversified customers and markets. Two linked questions appear immediately that concern for a first part the diversity that is adequate to put in the market, and for a second part the way to manage and manufacture it with acceptable lead time and cost. The contribution of this thesis is a proposition of a model that supports a global methodology for the design of products with high diversity, more specifically a separation between different kinds of diversity necessary for the life cycle design of product families, a passage through this different kinds of diversity with available tools from the literature. A study of the literature shows that there isn't any global methodology for that type of problems. A proposition of a methodology with 8 steps has been carried out. The methodology focuses in particular on the analysis of the functional requirements (with a distinction between stable and variable functions), the creation of a functional structure, the creation of a technical structure and an analysis of the set of relevant available processes. This work is illustrated with an application of the methodology on electrical wire harnesses in a context of synchronous delivery; a software tool has been specially developed to support the designers' tasks.
