Etude d'une méthode de diagnostic de digues avec prise en compte du risque de liquéfaction

Abstract : Dyke’s failure is a real problem that managers have to face. Failure cases are frequently observed, especially in developing countries. However, apart from simple visual inspections, the means of recognition of the hydraulic works are often heavy and expensive to apply. We propose by this work, an organization of methods and both original and economic techniques to help the manager to improve his knowledge about the park. The report is thus composed of three parts covering the general problems and two strong points of the diagnosis method suggested: - the diagnosis method : an AMDE approach is presented, allowing the analysis of critical damages scenarios applied to a typical embankment model. The nature of degradations, their criticality and the observation scale condition the selected techniques as well as the organisation of the method, - the estimation of mechanical stability : the purpose is to apply penetrometric techniques that are lights and economic in the aim to estimate the mechanical behaviour of a section. These techniques are completed by in situ permeability measurements ; for this a low scale permeameter adapted to 4 cm² drillings is studied and developed, - the in situ estimation of the liquefaction potential and post-seismic resistance : we build a method derived from Robertson’s, using point resistance and soil characterisation obtained from in situ permeability measures for estimating the liquefaction potential of soil. In addition, we are interested in post-seismic resistance of liquefiable materials. A set of tests realised on a silt that composes an embankment, reaches to the establishment of two post-seismic resistance criteria for this material. Whatever the criterion, the embankment is likely to collapse under seismic conditions.
