Localisation faible de la lumière par un gaz d'atomes froids en présence d'un champ magnétique

Abstract : This thesis addresses weak localization of light from a cold
atomic cloud in the presence of a magnetic field. More precisely, it is
devoted to the coherent enhancement of the backscattered intensity which is due
to the interference between scattering paths visting the same scatterers in
reversed order. We show theoretical results accounting for recent experimental
results on the shape and height of the intensity profile. In particular,
applying a magnetic field can increase its amplitude when the atoms have a
degenerate ground state, in sharp contrast with classical
scatterers. We discuss the usefulness of this result in the
perspective of strong localization of light.
