Etude des états métastables dans les ions lourds multichargés

Abstract : In this work, we present the effect of correlation on total binding energies of highly-charged ions as well as on lifetimes of the metastable state $^3P_2$ in several rare gases (Ne, Ar, Kr and Xe). We have also established the spontaneous relativistic two-photon decay rate expression in $N$-electron systems in a form suitable for the multiconfigurationnal Dirac-Fock method which is a possible approach to the relativistic many-body problem. We have too made the calculations of transitions energies in exotic atoms. An exotic atom is an atom in which one of the bound electrons is replaced by a negatively charged heavy particle like $\mu^-$ or $\pi^-$. These calculations have had two goals, firstly to establish energy calibration standards based on pionic $X$-ray transitions and, secondly, to obtain the mass of the charged pion $\pi^-$. In order to get more accurate results, we have determined the Breit correction coming from the pion-electron interaction.
