Caractérisation de l'organisation moléculaire par microscopie non-linéaire cohérente et incohérente

Abstract : Molecular engineering has been enriched by the design of optimized molecular structures for nonlinear quadratic optics the last decade.We present in this work high resolution two-photon excitation microscopy studies using both two-photon fluorescence and second harmonic generation, in order to probe molecular organization and nonlinear optical responses at sub-microscopic scales in di®erent environments such as polymers and crystals. Polarization resolution of the two-photon excitation processes allowed us to retrieve unambiguous information on the crystalline structure and the orientation of nanometer size molecular aggregates, as well as micro-crystals of known symmetry, according
to a theoretical model. An homodyne detection of second harmonic generation has also been developed in order to increase the sensitivity of our setup.
